Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes what data is processed when you use the Franklin mobile application (hereinafter — the “Application”).

The Application was developed by Marat Kairbekov (hereinafter — the “Service Provider”) and is provided free of charge. The Application is provided on an “as is” basis. The Service Provider acts as the controller of personal data and can be contacted at franklin@kannoapps.com.

Your financial data is stored on your device

This is the core principle behind the Application: all the data you enter — accounts, transactions, categories, settings — is stored locally, in your device’s memory. The Application has no user accounts, no sign-up and no cloud synchronization, and it does not transmit the contents of your database to the Service Provider’s servers. The Service Provider has no access to your database and cannot view it, restore it or share it with anyone.

The only exception is the usage statistics described in the following section.

What data is collected

To understand how the Application is used and to fix errors, the Application sends anonymized usage statistics to the Aptabase analytics service.

The following is transmitted automatically with every event:

Events are accompanied by anonymized parameters describing the action — for example, the transaction type and the currency code. The contents of your records — amounts, notes, account and category names — are never included in the statistics.

IP address. The Application does not collect or transmit your IP address. The Aptabase analytics service does not store IP addresses: an IP address is used once to determine the country and is then converted into an irreversible hash using a key that changes every 24 hours. That said, your IP address is inevitably visible at the connection level to the servers the Application contacts over the network — just as it is when you open any website.

What data is not collected

Third-party services

The Application contacts the following services, each of which has its own data processing policy:

Legal basis for processing

For users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the legal basis for processing usage statistics is the legitimate interest of the Service Provider (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — keeping the Application functional, identifying errors and improving it. You have the right to object to such processing in the manner described in the “Your rights” section.

Retention periods and storage location

Your rights

With respect to the data you enter into the Application, you are entirely in control: you can change or delete any record at any time, and you can delete all of your data by removing the Application from your device.

With respect to usage statistics, you have the right to: obtain confirmation that processing is taking place and access the data, request its rectification or erasure, request restriction of processing, object to processing, and lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority in your country of residence.

To exercise any of these rights, write to franklin@kannoapps.com — you will receive a response within a reasonable time, and no later than one month. Please note that the statistics are not linked to your identity, so the Service Provider cannot single out the events relating to you from the overall dataset.

Opting out of statistics collection

To stop the collection of statistics entirely, delete the Application from your device using the standard tools of your operating system or app store. Once it has been deleted, the Application transmits no data at all.

Data export and backups

The Application includes a feature for exporting your data to a file. Such a file is created at your command and goes wherever you send it — to another application, to cloud storage or by email. From the moment of export, keeping the file safe and confidential is your responsibility: it contains your transactions in unencrypted form.

Security

The Application’s data is stored in the device’s internal storage, access to which is restricted by the operating system: other applications cannot read it. Additional protection is provided by your device’s own safeguards — a passcode, biometrics and storage encryption; using them is recommended. All network requests made by the Application use the secure HTTPS protocol.

No method of transmitting or storing data is absolutely secure, so the Service Provider cannot guarantee the unconditional security of your data.

Children

The Application is not intended for or directed at children. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13, and for users in the European Economic Area — under the age of 16 (or under the age of digital consent established by the laws of a particular country).

If the Service Provider becomes aware that personal data has been provided by a child of the relevant age, it will be deleted immediately. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided personal data to the Service Provider, write to franklin@kannoapps.com and the data will be deleted.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time — for example, if the data collected or the list of third-party services changes. The new version will be posted on this page along with its effective date. You are advised to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Application after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new version.

Contact
